Easy Ways To Make Your Cat Happy

September 1, 2021

September is Happy, Healthy Cat Month! Of course, we think our feline pals should be happy and healthy all the time. Kitties are wonderful little pets and companions, and they deserve to be pampered and spoiled a bit. As it turns out, it’s not difficult at all to get your furball’s motor going! A Rockwall, TX vet offers some advice on making Fluffy happy in this article.

Beds, Beds, And More Beds

Cats are very, very tired. (We’re not sure why Fluffy is so exhausted, but that’s another topic.) Your drowsy pet will spend roughly 99 percent of her time snoozing. Make sure she has lots of comfy beds!

Window Seats

Our feline friends are always safer and healthier living indoors. Get Fluffy a comfy window seat, so she can sit and look out the window, and perhaps daydream about hunting birds and squirrels. A cat tower is ideal, of course, but a comfy recliner or ottoman angled just right will also work.

Toys

Kitties may be cute, but they are fierce predators at heart. Give your tiny little lion lots of toys to bat on and push under the couch. Cats all do have their own purrsonal tastes when it comes to playthings. Some like wand toys, some like catnip mice, and some just want to bat bottlecaps around. Offer Fluffy a variety, and see what she likes best.

Clean Litterbox

This one is hardly a surprise. You can’t blame Fluffy for wanting a clean powder room. Nobody likes a dirty bathroom! We advise scooping your furball’s box out daily, and changing the litter every week.

Play Sessions

As mentioned above, toys will definitely please your feline overlord. However, playing is more fun with friends! Take time to play with Fluffy every day. This will benefit her physically and mentally. (It will probably put a smile on your face as well.)

Good Food

Proper nutrition is very important! Canned food and kibble both have their own pros and cons. However, wet food does have a higher moisture content, and is a bit closer to what Fluffy would eat naturally. Ask your vet for recommendations.

Love

Last but not least, make sure that Fluffy feels loved. Talk to her, pet her, and let her snooze on your lap sometimes.
