Fluffy’s Thanksgiving Plans

November 15, 2023

Thanksgiving is coming up fast. Kitties have definitely climbed up the list of things that we are grateful for!  Your feline pal will pay close attention as you start to prepare those delicious holiday feasts. As it turns out, Fluffy has a few Turkey Day plans of her own. A Rockwall, TX vet lists them below.

Supervise Cooking

Cats like to keep a very close eye on their humans. Fluffy will likely be underfoot as all of those delicious dishes are going into the oven. She may also rub against your legs, which is an adorable way of both begging for food and subtly marking you with her scent.

Fur The Place

Holiday gatherings typically spark a few extra rounds of cleaning. Fluffy will be very concerned with making sure that your home has the proper amount of fur, and ensuring that it’s distributed evenly. How will she achieve this? By sleeping in a variety of spots, of course!

Nap

Holiday or no, your furry little friend will stick to her grueling napping schedule. She’s also quite grateful for all those beds and comfy spots!

Chair Warming

Cats are always on the hunt for comfy napping spots. Chances are, at some point over the course of the afternoon, somebody will get up for something, and return to find their chair occupied. If your furball is really brave, she may even steal a spot at the table.

Eat

You can definitely make your furry friend a special plate. Plain, cooked meat, fish, or poultry is fine, as long as you remove the skin, bones, and fat. Fluffy can also have some deli meat or canned, plain tuna or salmon. Just be sure to stick with safe options. Ask your vet for more info.

Meditate

Our feline friends are very deep thinkers. Fluffy regularly takes time out of her day to ponder some of life’s hardest questions. Where she does this on the holidays will depend on how sociable she is. A friendly, outgoing kitty may just sprawl out in the middle of the room, while a shy one may retreat to her favorite hiding spot under the bed or in a closet.

Snuggle

For many people, the planned entertainment for Thanksgiving night includes settling down with leftovers, full stomachs, and a game, movie, or show to watch. It’s probably safe to say that many of our feline patients will be serving as lap warmers that night!
